Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes! Since many local courthouses in the Richmond area do not perform civil ceremonies, we step in to provide that service. We are fully authorized to officiate legal marriages in the Commonwealth of Virginia and will handle the signing and filing of your marriage license following the ceremony.
-
A License Signing is purely functional—it is a brief meeting to complete the legal paperwork so you are officially married in the eyes of the law. An Elopement is a curated, intimate experience that includes a ceremony and exchanged vows. Think of the signing as the "legal must-do" and the elopement as the "celebratory I do."
-
Yes. You must obtain your marriage license from any Circuit Court in Virginia prior to your ceremony. Both parties must appear in person to apply. Once you have the license, bring it with you on your big day, and we will take care of the rest!

This is our "easy button" for couples who want style without the stress. It typically includes professional officiant services, a set amount of photography coverage, and personal florals (like a bouquet and boutonniere). It’s designed so you can simply show up and enjoy your moment.
-
Absolutely. We encourage our couples to make the ceremony their own. Whether you want to write custom vows or prefer us to provide a beautifully scripted ceremony for you, we work together to ensure the words spoken reflect your unique relationship.
-
Always. Hello Love is a strictly inclusive, safe, and affirming space. We celebrate love in all its forms and are honored to work with couples of all genders, orientations, and backgrounds.
-
We certainly try! If you are looking for a quick, legal signing without a formal ceremony, please reach out to check our availability. We understand that sometimes you just need to make it official quickly and professionally.
-
The beauty of our service is flexibility. We can join you at a local park, your favorite brewery, a private residence or any of Richmond’s hidden gems.
-
For custom ceremonies and peak wedding Saturdays, we recommend booking as soon as possible as prime wedding dates fill up the schedule pretty fast. However, for smaller elopements or weekday signings, we can often accommodate shorter timelines. It never hurts to ask about our current availability!

We always recommend having a "Plan B" indoor location or a covered area nearby. If you’ve booked a Love Crafted Elopement, we will work closely with you and the creative team to adjust the timing or location to ensure you still get beautiful photos and a memorable experience.
